Animism

Taking aesthetical ques from bronze age craft and Y2K graphics. Animism is a collection of vibrant functional sculptures created using large scale 3D-printing.

The name derives from a term used in anthropology to express the spiritual belief that objects, places, and creatures all possess a distinct spiritual essence. In a similar manner, the pieces making up the ever evolving Animism collection are imbued with life and movement.

Taking inspiration from early chalcolithic sculpture and manufactured using cutting edge robotic technologies, the collection is characterized by a dichotomy between ancient semiotics and technological advancement. Besides their practical uses as shelves, seating, side tables and more, Animism explores and challenges the boundaries between concepts such as art, sculpture and the functional object.

(from Latin: anima meaning ’breath, spirit, life’)
